CMTCA Accreditation
Vicars School of Massage Therapy has been granted full Accreditation from the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation. Accreditation is a way for massage therapy schools to demonstrate that they meet Canada’s national program standards.
The CMTCA is an independent agency that evaluates massage programs across the country to determine whether they meet the rigorous curriculum and delivery standards set by the Federation of Massage Therapy Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FOMTRAC). Vicars was the first Alberta private school to achieve this status, and the second Alberta school overall.
The CMTCA evaluation rates a school’s performance in seven important categories: curriculum content; faculty and learning; student support; leadership and administration; human resources; resources and infrastructure; and quality improvement.
MTAA Approved School
Vicars is a Massage Therapist Association of Alberta Approved School.
The MTAA is one of Alberta’s leading massage therapy professional associations. The Approved Schools list is their way of continuing to make sure that their members meet the association’s education standards.
Approval is based on a rigorous evaluation process that assesses a school’s curriculum content, delivery, and student experience. The criteria are based on FOMTRAC’s Inter-Jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at Entry-to-Practice standards.
Vicars was the first private school in Alberta to achieve this status.
We’re also held in high regard by other industry professionals.
“I often recommend Vicars when individuals question me about what massage school to attend. Graduates have been well prepared to face the challenges that they will undoubtedly encounter in the profession. Their assessment skills are excellent and they all seem to be very professional. I endorse Vicars wholeheartedly!”
Kip Petch, RMT and CSMTA member
“From a practitioner’s standpoint, being trained to the same minimum standard as everyone else in the country is huge. But there are schools that, unfortunately, aren’t going to do it until they have to. That’s why it’s such an advantage what Vicars has done [to voluntarily meet the national curriculum standard]. You didn’t have to, but you did. It shows the commitment you have to the profession at large—and it was not a small undertaking.”
